Anyone here go to MU?

Post by Erlex »

Does anyone here go to University of Missouri Columbia? I want to start some sort of projects club under the engineering department, but everyone on campus I have talked to just looks at me like I'm crazy. Like, "You want to do what?! With what?!" (No one has heard of Ben Heck :( ) So please let me know. Somehow I doubt anyone here does though....

I have a friend that goes there, but I'm not sure if he'd be interested. Perhaps a club with a more general interest like 'electronics club' would be better to go with. Console portablization is not something the average person has heard of, but there are some people interested in learning electronics, probably in all departments.

Also, you might want to get in touch with prozacgod at gmail-dot-com , as he was trying to start up an off-campus 'Makers Club' during the brief time I lived in Columbia,MO.

The only people here with enough expertise are the outgoing seniors - I went to the last open house and saw some very cool stuff. I'm pretty much by myself though.

Tom61 I edited the email address so you friend won't get spammed.

Yeah I was thinking of a more general club as well. It wouldn't even be limited to electronics or portables. I just thought it would be a good place to start, especially if I could find some benheckers to help get it started.

Thanks tom, ill shoot him an email to see if he is still interested in starting that club.

Marshallh, you go to MU? Or do you mean here as in this forum? And what open house do you speak of?

There is a robot club here at UT. Went and was very disappointed by the lack of skillz. Maybe I should assemble an A-team and rock there box.......

I wish we had a robotics club here.. The only engineering club I am in is my school's hydrogen car team and I work on the electrical and chemical aspects of it. It's great fun, but it would be awesome to work with people interested in smaller, short term projects. You know, the ones that don't cost $30,000 and take two years to build.
