Audio amp and speakers question...

Post by killercottontail »

So, for my portable I am building a stereo audio amp and speaker system (my screen has no integrated audio). My amp (at 12V 8ohms dc in) outputs a continuous average wattage of .4W. However, the peak wattage spikes to greater than 1W. Here is a link to the specs:

However, my power supply will be only 9V. How will this affect the average and peak wattage outputs? It is recommended on the packaging that the speakers be rated 3W or greater. But, I can't seem to figure out if this means max power rating or average power rating. All I'm looking for are small 8ohms speakers that will recieve enough power from the amp to function without being blown. Digikey has a huge inventory of speakers, but I cant seem to find ones I'm sure will work. Anyone have experience with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Edit: Would these work???
