can you help me with NOAC mod?

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

can you help me with NOAC mod?

Post by guitarbuilder »

Hi guys
I was wondering if you could help me out. I want to build a portable a lot like the Game Grrl/the fugtendo but I want to be able to play more games than just NES. So my question is, can I mod the NOAC to play gameboy ROMs and other ROMs? Please help me out if you can

EDIT: if there is a way that I can wire something up to the NOAC to put more ROMs, that works too

Unfortunately you can't play any other system's games on an NOAC but the NES. If you wanted to try out import games, you can wire a 60-pin Famicom cartridge slot to the NOAC so you can play Japanese games. Otherwise there isn't much you can do with an NOAC, it's just an NES-on-a-chip.

If you'd like to make a portable that could do what you want you should look at the SNES, as you can then use the Super Gameboy. Building an SNES is pretty straight forward. The only major downside to an SNES over an NES (NOAC) is that it will be bigger.
