in my belief i think that PRACTICALITY wise, the N64 is the most practical console to make portable.

1. N64's cost $14 at gamestop, and are easy to find.
you just can't beat that.

2. any best buy you go to has an INTEC Gamecube screen.
THE GAMECUBE HAS THE SAME INPUTS AS THE N64.
so you wouldn't need to solder the screen to the board at all.

3. games are easy to find. ANYWHERE YOU GO.

4. power is the only issue.

5. it shouldn't cost more than 60-70 to build including the cost of the system and screen. you can find the intec screen for under $50 nowadays.

does anyone agree?

It is my concerted opinion that the Dreamcast is the most practical. It has full playability of everything up to PSX or something.

The easiest/cheapest to build is most likely the psone.

psone's aren't that rare...
Also, you can build a psp with only stuff you can buy at a pawn shop. You can't build a n64p like that.

Mac put the control buttons on a Psone (used original case), vecroed a screen to the front, and a battery pack to the back.

It could be considered impossible to make something portable with less modding than was he did.

that's ghetto.
but the ps1 stuff comes basically portable.
there are 4 hr batteries that clip on to the bottom, and screens that screw into the back.

the only problem is the controller,
and one company made controllers that connected directly to the system arcade style

Practicality-wise the N64 isnt the console to portablize seeing as it fries so easily...

Practicality-wise, I think it's a tie between the Dreamcast and the Playstation.

Discs are a LOT easier to transport than cartridges, and the DC can play a lot of systems' games through emulation.

My local K-Mart has a couple of PSone screens, brand new, FOR $100 USD A PIECE!!! OMFG! WHY THE F DO THEY CHARGE SO MUCH FOR THEM?
