Help with VGA cable mod!

Post by kevintran3000 »

Hey all! So I bought one of those cheap X360 VGA cables. The first one had ghosting and the RMA'ed one also had ghosting. So while doing some research, I came across the Engadget article by Ben about modding the cable. So i followed the instructions, but I'm having some problems.

I used another VGA cable for straight VGA to X360. I tested it out and I see the dashboard with what appears to be the right colors, but the screen is very light and has horizontal lines on it, like a bad cable signal.

Is this a problem with H-sync/V-sync? Also, is grounding each of the ground pin important? I know the ground to activate VGA mode is, but how bout the rest? Is it alrite to ground all the wires together to a common ground like the metal shield of the X360 connector?

Thanks

you need to check your connections because the only thing im I think is rong is that one of the connections(red, Blue, and Green arent connected properly. Or maybe, did you connect ground pins on your custom vga port one of those signals are not getting a ground connection because the monitor in which your connecting the vga cable too, is not getting the ground signals to (Red, Blue, Green) signals. WE NEED PICS LOL
