RGB modding started here - how many have you modded?

i just want to share how my rgb modding started with my genesis's and where it went from there.

i hated the composite video my sega's were putting out and wanted to do something about it. my tv back then was a decent svideo/composite and i wanted svideo so i decided to buy an external rgb to svideo arcade circuit. this would enable my sega 32X to be svideo. i built it into a nice little box with a female scart with audio. i used rgb and composite sync and made cables for four total sega systems. i made cables for my sega 32x with cd, genesis with multi game hunter copier, genesis model 2 and sega master system. i got audio from headphone jacks or added to cables.
systems looked great but i still wanted rgb and never experienced rgb exept in the arcades.

i later found a nice 27" veiwsonic rgb vga/svideo/composite monitor for $16 bucks from a thrift store. costed 4k in the 90s. hey...don't be jealous. i made a female scart to vga cable to hook things up. i was amazed with the image quality in its purist form. i wanted all my systems to have there best and then became an obsession.......arcade fever.
i also have a commodore rgb monitor and made a cable to use it for testing new projects and cables.

after doing some research i found i needed to make a sync seperater for my other systems. so i made a short sync seperater with male and female vga since i had many of those cables around. i had to find the sync chip,resisters and capacitors online. i then ebayed scart cables for snes with game doctor copier,n64,saturn, and a ps1.
i did the mod by adding the rgb traces to the n64 port. i also added rgb socket to tg16 and made a scart cable.
all went well and looks fantastic. my monitor seems to exept the the n64 and tg16 rgb well and doesn't need any amplification as the contrast is fine turning up a bit.

i then went to my higher end systems and bought nice cables for those. having a hdtv with all sockets is nice. dreamcast vga, componant for xbox, xbox 360,ps2,gamecube and hdmi for ps3. i also hdmi my pentium 4 pc, blueray player, dvd player.

only thing i need to do is disconnect the sync seperator when using the sega systems. this is easy to do since i have a vga extender in front of the monitor. its only because i made the cables before i had a rgb monitor . i could leave the sync seperator connected if i connect composite video line as sync instead of composite sync line for all sega cables but thats a lot of work.

so how many systems have i modded or cabled and what i could not do without some serious work. actually i only modded a few systems by adding ports or traces. most of my work was making cables,ports (sockets) and a sync seperater. i had some small sega din connector ends but not model1's so i added ports for other style ends i had.

RGB systems

--Genesis model1 32x with cd (rgb, made cable)
--Genesis model1 with multi game hunter (rgb, port added and made cable)
--Genesis model2 for 16 bit carts (rgb, made cable)
--master system (rgb port added, made cable)
--tg16 with cd (rgb port added to traces, made cable)
--snes with game doctor (rgb, bought cable)
--saturn chipped 4mbRam (rgb, bought cable)
--ps1 chipped (rgb, bought cable)
--n64 with doctor v64 4mbRam (rgb, bought cable after rgb traces added to port)

no rgb systems

--duo retro (svideo) rgb may be possible for snes side.
--3do fz-10 (svideo) rgb is some serious work.

HDTV systems

--ps2 fat, chipped, 300gb hd, mem exploited w/hdloader & ulaunch. (componant)
--ps2 slim, no chip, mem card esr'ed to run burnt games saves ps2 fat's lazer. (componant)
--dreamcast (vga box)
--gamecube (componant)
--xbox chipped, 80gb hd (componant)
--xbox 360 (componant)
--ps3 200gb hd (hdmi)
