controller relocation help!!!!

Post by seanmacdonn »

does anyone have a tutorial on how to relocate the buttons on the n64 controller? I'm confused as to where to solder, and how to solder onto the board. Also has anyone tried to relocate a rumble/memory pack slot? I know on this diagram it just has 6 connections (on the controller), is that right?

If anyone had pictures of what they did to their controllers, that would help a lot.

On the official controller there should be some pads near the buttons that you can solder onto fairly easily if you are using your own buttons (eg tact switches). If you just want to cut the controller in two its merely a case of reconnecting the traces. If it is covered scrape of the coating and solder onto that. If you have a multimeter continuity testing may help you make sure that you've got everything right.

People have relocated the rumble pack and memory pack plug which you would know if you'd done some research before posting. There are a lot more than 6 joints to relocate but they're fairly easy soldering.
