Portable Genesis/Sega cd battery
I am throwing together a portable Genesis and thought I should mention it, I am using a pocket tv and a model 3 Genesis. I am making the case out of wood and doing it in a way that I don't really have to solder anything because I am sick of doing that and am not very good at it, anyway I am powering the tv separately on its regular batteries and am going to try just wiring 5 AA batteries in a case up to a plug that fits where the power adapter goes, that will work right? I f not I will probably not get a chance to read any responses before I try it. I will try to post a picture when its done. Also how much space should there be in the memory of the Sega cd? I replaced the save battery with just a regular watch battery I got from the $1 store and it only holds 124 blocks and I have a game that takes 100 (dungeon master 2) does the original hold more? I have another game that needs 54, so i can really only have the one game saved. I think the original battery might still work because when I thought it wasn't working and I replaced it turned out it might have just needed re-formatted.I was planning on just getting a back-up cartridge but they turned out to be horribly expensive would it be possible to make one or maybe put a series of batteries into the system to make it hold more? sorry for the horribly long post.

ok, It did work when I tested it, but I decided to use a 9.6v rc car battery, I just hope I can get a connector at radio-shack.

Ok, I finished the portable and found out that the regular cd battery only holds 125 blocks which is ridiculous because you can only have one game saved at a time, anyway will the Japanese version of the back up cartridge work on an American Sega CD system? both model 2's
