My SNES portable and Super Game Boy sound woes

Post by thewizdawg »

For some reason I can't get the Super Game Boy sound to work with my portable. When I first turn it on I get some sound but when it goes to the game boy game there is no sound or music. I used a SNES mini system board and I tapped the left and right audio from the surface mount IC. Can somebody with a SNES portable with mini board check to see if theirs works? I tried to find the pinout for the Super Game Boy but couldn't find one to see if the audio is mixed differently somehow.

how long are your cables? because the supertendo has pics of running a gameboy camera on the super gameboy on the supertendo. If you want it perfect, go for 3-6 inches, try to get them as short as possible.

I've used that exact same setup before without any issues, wizdawg. I assuming other games work just fine?

Same thing here, the games run flawlessly but the sound won't work when you tap the stereo audio from the 8-pin SMD chip.

This is because the audio generated by the Super Gameboy is mixed with the SNES output. I'm not sure where it's mixed, but it's somewhere after the chip, if you trace it back to the video connector, you may find something.

Thanks all for checking. I'm not going to worry about it.

I figured it was mixed differently but wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

if you really want you can pick up the audio before it leaves the super gameboy thats easy enough to do,

but i have a snes mini with the super gameboy, and the sound works fine but i get a lot of buzzing in the speakers,
