Well this is my other comission so I mineaswell post a log right?

First off my comissioner wanted the N64 inside the genesis case I made...
So I open the N64 and take a look...

Looks like it'll fit.

But needs to be more compact...

So I cut off the fins on either side and bend the back down towards the expansion port...


Then I'll sodder them back on like this.


So everything should be compact like this (the cart will be moved up slightly...


And ofcourse the ports will come off.

I was going to have the N64 flipped around the other way but the expansion ram thingy got in the way of the screen. I need to figure out where a battery should go and where the controller will go. Other than that... should be a piece of cake

Just soldered/hotglued the heatsink to itself.



And wouldn't you know it it still works!

Well... I just made the order for the regulator. I plan on doing the cart slot relocation this weekend. So see ya soon...

Edit: Guess I passed TI sample testing program 3 of them are on their way

Bad News ...

I took the heatsink off to relocate the cart slot. I noticed that one of the ram chips had been pulled half way off (the side with w contacts at each end.) I took a careful look and it looked as if they were both ground. So I tried to sodder them back on. I accidentally got a small glob on the next chip over (one closest to the expansion pack) and for the life of my can't get it off.

Now the N64 LED doesn't even come on

Guess I need another N64

With solder bridges going on, I wouldn't power on the n64.

This happened to me, and I got the solder off very easily by adding a ton more (!) then removing it with some solder braid coated in flux.

Tried that but my desoldering iron was basically too big.

Good News

I discuessed the situation with the comissioner. He understands. We came to an agreement.

Thus I bought 2 N64s

No all's cool. I found a neat ebay auction of a guy selling 2 N64s tested with no cords or anything. Cost me $20 with shipping

And of course I'll have an extra lying around
