Can I replace a PSP screen with a non-PSP screen?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Can I replace a PSP screen with a non-PSP screen?

Post by deadlyfishy »

The thing is, I am a complete noob at this, and I was taking apart my crappy "phat" psp for the fun of it. I stupidly underestimated the power of glue, and cracked the inside of the screen. Everything else still works, including the backlight. I wanted to know if this type of screen replacement would work just for the heck of it.

psp 1000 screens are pretty cheap nowadays, if you lurk ebay for a few days you can easily get one under $20. Ebay power seller stores sometimes have % off sales; I got mine from gaingame during one of those said sales and it was about $15.

Dealextreme also has them for $19-22. Not sure what screen you wanted to use instead but it'd prolly cost more in the long run, plus it would look pretty wonky if it wasn't widescreen.
