Do I need 2 switches for this? *New Question!*

Im making an external screen doodad for my uncle with a psone screen. Long story short, he wants to be able to input DC power from the a wall wart or an external battery pack, as well as having an internal Li-po battery pack. Which brings me to my question, Do I need 2 switches to achieve this setup?

Could I take the Charge jack off the switch, move the screen to the middle pin, and add in the dc jack and sefely be able to charge the batteries?

Here's how I have it set up without the 'external power source jack'

I would just put an extra jack in that powers the psone screen alone, switch both positive and negative off of the screen to charge, then plug in external source. Although you may want to add another switch before the external power as a safety so you don't kill the battery.

Eh, simple. Take what you have now, and add a jack for extra power to the screen power port along with the battery. Don't plug the external power source in at the same time as the battery.

Why not get one of those (headphone) jacks where there is a switch that disables the internal audio stream when a headphone is inserted in to the jack. You know what I mean? Find one of those with a power jack shaped connection, and you're set.

Hm would I be able to rig this up with a relay instead of a second switch?

Snow: It would work perfectly. I've done it, the problem being that you can't just let any old idiot use it for fear they'll hook up their headphones and get a nasty 7 volt suprise.

Would one of the headphone jacks from a psone screen work? Im not very familiar with audio jacks/wiring.
