How do you use a multimeter

I know what a multimeter does, but how do you use it! Furhtermore, where do you put the pins on the circut that I'll be testing? I am using my multimeter on my snes 1. mobo.

I would like to test the volts, amps, and resistance of my SNES mobo version 1.

its easy to use a multimeter just set it to the setting you want (voltage,resistance,connectivity etc.) and touch the positive lead to the positiove wire and negative lead to the negative wire or pin its fairly simple.

But testing dead connections with an oscilliscope is not. (I had to test the audio circuit in my Sears Video Arcade.)
