N64p in psone case?

so yeah my question is is it possible to stuff my n64p guts into a psone case?
i was watching a video of schmellyfart's snes (that sadly he dropped down the stairs, i am really cut up for him) and it looked beautiful and easy to work with.
i plan on relocating the expansion pak on the n64 board so it shoudn't be all that different to the board of the snes. i also will have smaaller speakers than his and my batteries shouldn't be too bad. has anybody done this before?

haven't seen it done with an n64, it could be done but there really wouldn't be too much space to work with.

wouldnt bother, not enoguh space to work with, have to use 3rd pary controller as normal stick would be too tight of fit etc...

i would be interested in the dimensions of the psone so i can compare it to the zn-40/45 cases before i make my decision. i didnt say i wouldnt be interested in widening it, but as a base it could be very good. regarding the joystick, i could replace it with a gamecube one, one fit in sifufs.

It has been done before. If you're still considering using the PSone case, you'll definitely need to make it like 3" thick.

so i will probably do it, it'll be a fun challenge.
i thought of a cool idea on saaving space in class today:



the battery pack that i got is a camcorder on with six separate cells that i could arrange inside the cartide slot like this.
this means that i only need to try and fit the screen (has a tiny controller board and some little extra separate boards for stuff like video in, sound and stuff so cutting it down wont be necessary), a n64 mobo, the amp board that i have for the speakers and the controls.
so i reackon i could make this work as i am not really a noob at this kind of stuff, i have made an arcade machine and some other small projects so far. now i just have to find somebody willing to donate the shell from their psone, shouldn't be too hard i think

because, to fit everything inside the case i dont think there is a reasonable chance that you could fit a n64p inside a non-modified psone case,
its easier to say it will fit when you consider surface area and every thing but once you actually try to fit everything in,
the wire,,, wire and more wire
heatsinks
pesky capacitors and components that stick out an extra 3 mm from the board,

i have a couple more reasons i thought up earlier when comparing a trimmed n64 mobo to a psone case but i cant be bothered posting them right now,
basically use the case but be prepared to adding like 3cm spacer or something

hmmm...ok.
how about a zn-45? i belive i could fit one in there. i noticed that most people go for the thicker zn-40 but i believe it is unnecessarily large. i really want to get a case that is a challenge to fit things in but it is worth it in the end. the pson case may be more trouble than it is worth. please somebody prove me wrong
but then again i did measure the combined thickness of my screen and n64 at the thickest point and it only came to 3cm, the psone is 4cm wide, so i think it is possible but i realise all the small things like wire start to stack up in the end, plus i have to squeeze in the other boards (ie headphone, video out etc). i think that the other n64 you guys pointed out was so thick just because the guy didn't put in much effort

Wires, Use 30AWG. Problem solved.
Heatsinks, yeah you might have some problems. Why not use a sheet of copper? Make it the same size as the n64 and sand parts not in contact with the chips.
Capacators, relocate them,flip them on their side, replace them with smaller (physical) ones. Not the first time its been done.

Wait, comparing? Or actually placing the board, screen, and other components actually in the case. There is a difference. It may not be much, but with a case of that size, every mm counts.

It wont be easy, but I think it can be done without "extending" the case.

If you are going to put the batteries outside the case around the cart slot, your main issue will most likely be fitting the controls around the screen.

why is everyone stuck on huge? using shockslayers rcp wiring guide, you can trim an n64 down to almost nothing. toss in a couple flat pack lipos, a copper plate for a heatsink, and a trimmed psone, and you've got it. it would have plenty of space.

By all means you can get a n64p inside a psone case but it would take a lot more work than something that has that extra cm or so on it.

just in terms of keeping everything organized it would be harder to build and maintain.

but if you have time and a lot of patience by all means, go for it, but stick to the 6 p's:
