Is it possible to solder the adapter to the board with the pins going to the opposite holes? seems weird that it would be like that. some electronics can take the power either way, but I wouldn't risk it.

No I don't believe I can solder it opposite. And I wouldnt want to risk it without knowing either..its my saturn :(. It doesn't "Need" to be replaced. But its very wobly and the screw holes are cracked.
Edit: XCVG on modretro said "It's AC so I don't think polarity matters."
