PS2p Battery
I've been looking at the few ps2 portable threads to see what people have been using for batteries but they all look bulky. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the ideal, or i guess minimum volt and amp i need to look for in a battery for ps2. would a couple of the batteries that brian used in his newest nesp work if connected in series?? Ok so the voltage i need is 8.5v, will 3 of these wired in series work to power it?

Also i've looked around and havent found any topics that explain what regulator to use (is there one on the board like the snes?) to power the ps2 and a psone screen?

That battery will work. You may want to go ahead and look at their 11.1v lithium battery packs since they're a pre-packaged form the 3.7v cells. You could also get a single safety PCB for those.
As far as dropping the voltage for the screen, you want a 7808 voltage regulator. it'll take the current down to a safe 8v.
As far as I know, there hasn't been any info saying that 11.1v coming straight from the battery would hurt the PS2. I'm pretty sure it can handle that. If you find that you do have to have a lower voltage for the PS2 itself, the 7808 isn't a good solution for that. It only outputs 1A and that's not enough for a PS2.
Anyone else want to back me up or correct me, please. Irish seems to be doing his homework.

Ya i have, ultimately what i want is this:
PS2P in a ZN-45 case (i know they're thick) with a psone screen, rgb modded, and then for a twist I want to make it slot loading internally (why? i know itll make it bulkier thats why i want to use the ZN-45 case, but why not? who else has done it? exactly....) but i need some thin batteries to keep it as small as I can. Since this is my first portable idea, I'm a little scared to use the li-ion batteries because everyone keeps saying its like having a hand grenade so I want to make sure i have the right wiring and setup....
I'll probably go ahead and just keep this one in the design phase for a while seeing as I'm up at college for the summer and don't really have time til winter. I'll probably go ahead and make a ZN-40 snesp to just get used to hacking up stuff since i haven't done it before. On a side note is there anywhere that talks about using 4 led lights instead of 3 like in Ben's book?

a lot of people use 4 to make the lighting more uniform. you don't need to do anything different with the wiring except add another LED to the chain. Hope that helps.

The psone screen can run on whatever the ps2 runs on it isn't to fussy but you might have to jump the fuse on the psone screen board. But the ps2 is a lot more fussy and you would want it running on between 8.5 to 9.5v to be on the safe side.
