screen modding for PS1P CNC

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

screen modding for PS1P CNC

Post by hackerboy »

I want to make a PS1P CNC version from the book but I can't find casio pocket TVs anywhere or they are way to expensive so I would like to use a 2.5 or 3.5" industrialLCD screen. I have 3 questions:

1. How can I mod them to be just like a PS1 screen with brightness and volume. I saw on there tech specs how 2 adjust brightness but An easier way would be better with plans for speaker hook up.

2.Will the 3.5" screen be compatible with this project with a new screen holder. (preferably 3.5" because it's easier to see but I can settle for 2.5")

3. If so I need some advice if I need to mod it like the other plans and some diagrams or pictures to hooking it up.

Please It's a tight sit.

Okay, for brightness you said it says how on their site. For volume unless I'm mistaken there is no audio on those screens. You will need to build a small audio amplifier, which can have control for volume. Many people like the LM386.

Any screen that accepts composite input (yours does) will work with game consoles.

For hookups there ought to be a yellow composite jack. Just plug in, or solder there or to the board. Make sure the system and screen share a common ground.

Welcome to the community!

Maybe a worklog of your project would be nice? :)

So far I have all of the parts all I really need to know is if I can use the 3.5" screen or if not I will settle for a 2.5 inch. Then I would need a modified cnc pattern. There was some editing I need to be done on the pattern ( my local Laser wouldn't except some things). My life would be so much easier if someone made a freaking 3" instead of a stupid 2.5 or 3.5 nobody can just make a nice solid 3" screen. Does any body no a solid 3" durable screen?

I finished modding out my ps1 so it's just sitting there until I can get this mess out of the way. I have a PS1 screen modded with LED's but it's to big for the PS1CNC project case.

I already looked at that it is a pustom and I would have Got it but there were 2 things that haunted me.........

1. Bad Reviews- two many people say there screens are not worth your money and the warranty really sucks also

2. I don't know if there is enough room inside the case for the pustom guts.

If the pustom was a much more reliable and decent screen I would buy it.

BTW. Pustoms have good amps!

The pustom would work because it says in the description it says that it is TFT but I don't want to take a chance of it going KAPLOEY on me. It would really suck for me if It worked great when I got it but it died when i finished the project :(

If so this is what would happen...

(name here) walks outside to his/her back yard wearing black clothing carrying a shoebox containing his finished PS1P project.

Preacher arrives in hearse

Preacher: We are gathered here today to remember how much fun we had on that good old, freaking awesome PS1. Why did (name here) have to try to make it a cool portable, why, WHY? G**D**NIT. UGH. We will miss it greatly. Amen....

(name here) starts crying and throws shoebox in to small hand dug hole with shovel beside it. Then, He/She starts shoveling dirt in to the hole

And that is why I don't want to take that risk..... I'm too cheap to hire a preacher. funerals cost to much these days.

1. Your warrenty is voided doing this LOL
And they are good screens I heard good of them. The people reiewing them aren't doing what your doing so don't read those reiews.

2. I think it would be easier to mod the pustom to fit than the 2.5 or whatever you have
