Does it have the rest of the parts? (dvd drive etc.)
By GPU out of order do you mean theres no picture or are you getting 3 red lights on your xbox?
I was getting the rrod but I just took off the x clamps and put them back on, and I've played it for about 3 hours since then with no flaws.
Oh and you might get better answers in the xbox 360 section as opposed to the original xbox section, but I'm sure a mod will move it for you so don't bother starting 2 threads

I would try the x clamp mod if I were you, and not just taking them off and putting them back on but this

you don't need to buy their kit, you should be able to find the parts at most hardware stores.
if that fails I've heard the towel trick works, although I'm not a big fan of it.

Re: Xbox 360 Scrap motherboard
sorry to bump/hijack this topic (didnt see the poin in a new thread for an easy answer), but a recently bought a 360 without a dvd drive (or dvd key) can any modern modchips bypass the check for the dvd drive key, or is there any way i can still play games off the harddrive or something?

Re: Xbox 360 Scrap motherboard
As far as I know, I don't believe any of those are possible. You need the original dvd key in order to get a replacement drive, and the 360 won't run without a DVD drive, and even if it was possible to start it up without one, you would still need the DVD drive for verification when you run a game from the hard drive. As for modchips, I only know of the dvd drive chips, and all those do is temporarily patch the drive's firmware to play burned games, which is completely useless when you could flash the drive yourself a lot faster and easier. If I were you I'd just try to sell it on ebay "as-is" and then buy a RROD one and fix it.blaze3927 wrote:sorry to bump/hijack this topic (didnt see the poin in a new thread for an easy answer), but a recently bought a 360 without a dvd drive (or dvd key) can any modern modchips bypass the check for the dvd drive key, or is there any way i can still play games off the harddrive or something?
