"Transform" ntsc-j console on ntsc.. help!!!!!!

I have a ntsc tv here using a ntsc-j console but the colors (red) look brown and other colors look diferent.. i would like to know how to change the hardware of my console to make the console be a pal-m or a ntsc (american colors) console.

Its that possible??? (please its impossible to find a ntsc-j to ntsc (american) here in my country.. i need to do something in the console.. thx

The N64 does not use NTSC-J color encoding - it uses standard NTSC which is exactly the same color encoding as the USA.

I am guessing that your from Brazil due to mentioning PAL-M? If so you really need a TV that can accept an NTSC input - I would imagine most modern TV's can.

The other important thing you havent mentioned is if you are using an RF or Composite connection. If your using RF that could mess things up as there are all sort of different modulators/frequencies to consider...

Each country usually has a different N64 RF modulator block and/or cable. The small black block that plugs into the N64 'modulates' the NTSC Composite signal (or PAL depending on the N64 console) and Audio signals into the RF frequency needed for that country. If you try mix and match RF modulators/cables and N64 consoles you will likely run into problems.

If you are still using RF I would recommend upgrading to a Composite or S-Video connection instead, which may also solve your problem

I'm using the original A/V cable of nintendo in a ntsc/pal-m television.
My Console its a nintendo 64 japonese.. Strange.. the red looks brown etc.. i tryed on a lot of tvs... but the result its the same. I think that the cable can be broken or something like that...

Hmm, well theres only two possibilities I can think of, either:-
1) Its a defective AV cable, or
2) You are using a PAL Nintendo AV cable (But I dont know how you would have got a PAL AV cable living in Brazil! AFAIK Brazillian N64 consoles output NTSC)
PAL AV cables have a 75ohm resistor to ground on the Composite line which NTSC N64's dont need. If you use a PAL AV cable on an NTSC N64 you might get the symptoms you described. If you dont know if your AV cable is PAL or NTSC you can try opening the plug that goes into the N64 by pressing in the four plastic clips. If you see a resistor like this:-

Its a PAL AV cable, and you need to either buy an NTSC AV cable or cut out the resistor 'changing' it into an NTSC cable

Thx for the help i will open and see if the cable its a pal on (but i think that its not cuz this cable come with the console... (japonese one)
I will try on a diferent tv too (just ntsc, imported) and i will tell what happens
