I'm sure a lot of you already know this, but for those who don't, I feel like sharing a very valuable trick you can pull off in the original Mario Kart to make mushrooms last for immense amounts of time, sometimes allowing you to skip almost an entire lap. There isn't a good video explaining this, so I whipped this up for the newbies to the game so that there are no more excuses to people being bad at 150cc mode. Longboosting is god!
Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tuli6rCCI7s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is only for the SNES game, sadly, and this trick is one of the many reasons it's my favorite one to date.
BONUS TRICK: When going on rough dirt and grass, you will not slow down as much if you release the B button while sliding past it.
ANOTHER BONUS TRICK: If you jump before hitting a wall, you'll bounce back but not slow down when you land.

Re: Longboosting
LOL that's pretty cool! Too bad you can't do that on any of the newer kart games
