I just bought 6 Sanyo cordless phone batteries from walmart (they only cost a dollar each on clearance, so I don't care if they turn out to be useless...)
Anywho, they Nickel Metal Hydride Rechargeable batteries rated at 3.6V and 830mAh each, plus they are pretty tiny so I thought they might be usable in a portable. UNFORTUNATELY, it says that they should be charged in their phone for 12-14 hours before use, which leads me to believe they have no charge out of the package, and I don't have the phone to charge them so I would have to make a charger for them...
other than that, does anyone think I could put them to good use? or should I have bought a hamburger?

830mAh isn't anywhere near enough capacity for any portable but a NOAC with no internal display. Should've bought that hamburger.

Although wired in parrallel and series he could get 2490 at 7.4v which could power...something

2 sets of 2 in series will give you an okay runtime for a NOACp, but other than that they are useless. If you use all 6, too big. Maybe for adding rechargable to low power devices? I recommend you save them for odd projects, not for a portable. Also charging should be fairly easy with a cheap charger.

Actually, if you were making a NOACp, you could use the batteries all wired in parrallel, because ben or rekarp said that the system was happy with 3.7v. Giving you 4980mah at 3.6v
