Any uses for a dvd drive-less gamecube?
I was going to relocated the dvd drive on my gamecube, and got about 1/4 of the way through and decided it would be way too much work, I have to go to the computer to look at the pinout for every wire, and I'm using 30 gauge so the wires keep coming off.
anyways is there anything cool I can do with it or should I keep at the dvd drive relocation?

There *were* a bunch of guys working on replacing the drive with either a hdd, compact flash or sd card and supposeduly had things working. But it seems nothing more came of it.
I believe you *can* load games from a sd card, using one of the later generation of mod chips, but I think you actually need a disc in to boot it up or something first.

1. Yeah, but pretty much everyone dropped off the face of the earth, I have little contact with ER, but he's in a tight spot right now, best to let it wait, and simmer.MegatronUK wrote:There *were* a bunch of guys working on replacing the drive with either a hdd, compact flash or sd card and supposeduly had things working. 2. SDBoot is really slow, and from what I know is the only current way of doing it. Not worth it.

AAAAHHHHH!!! I give up! I went to put the relocated dvd drive mobo in with the rest of the dvd drive and like 10 wires ripped out. Its not worth it. I'm done.

I'm not actually giving up, just not going to work on it for a few days.
