Making a TV show, book, or videogame into a musical

Saw this on another forum, thought it was a good idea.

Pick a novel or play or short story or TV show or film or videogame you like

How you would make it into a musical?

Pick your most favorite part of the story to make a song. How would it go?

I got serious about it, been writing mine. Anybody else have awesome videogames/TV shows that would rock as a musical?

I'm actually working on a somewhat related project. I want to write a steampunk opera. I've got the libretto about one-third written. lol

Now I want to finish that and do a chiptune musical. That would be seriously epic.

Actually, a no voice, mime acted chiptune musical would kick ass.

It would be super creepy and awesome.

I'm not sure, actually. Without words, it's just a dance performance, but regular singing isn't really chiptune.

Well, there are two ideas I had thinking about your idea:

The guy at the local conveniance store cannot speak, because he had some throat operation. He uses this wrist mounted keyboard vocoder style thing to talk. A possibility?

The second is that they could make the chiptunes AS the musical is playing. Using a DMG and LSDJ, for example. You can convey a lot with just body language and the kind of music that is being played.

A hot, boring day in camp made me and another good friend made a Orcarina of Time rock musical, of course it would be really long so we ended up only getting to the water temple as adult link, the last boss battle would make an amazing rock song

I hate musicals. Most games, TV shows, and some books adapt mega-crappily. Mostly due to complex locations, special effects, etc. Seriously, what if we tried to make a Halo musical? Epic fail.

You pretty much have to start from scratch.

Persona would be pretty sweet. Which one are you talking about specifically? P3 has been my favorite so far (although the cutscenes in 4 are way better).

Thanks, now I have that song stuck in my head...

How about this: a Mario musical in the vein of Phantom of the Opera.
Phantom: Bowser
Christine: Princess Peach
Raoul: Mario

For anyone who has seen the musical (1987) or the movie (2004), you can see how well this would work because Bowser would be less of an evil character and more of a tragic one.

Persona 1 was the one I was talking about.
That was the one that scared me the most.
