Well currently I use sony vegas pro 8, and I've noticed that when I export videos from my camera, the quality comes out terrible, while gameplay videos come fine. So Im looking for something better,Price is not a problem.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Oh also, it needs to be able to export in HD

I use Final Cut Suite for my job, but you'd probably be fine with Express. I like the whole suite, because I use Compressor and DVD Studio Pro a lot. Easy to learn too!

I've only really used Adobe's video stuff (apart from some random cheap crap that my middle school had). I've seen FCP used on a Mac, but I have no experience with it, and you don't have a Mac so who cares.
But yeah I'd recommend Adobe Premiere for video editing and Adobe After Effects for effects/compositing/other fun stuff.

We use Final Cut Pro on all of our XP machines at school. It works great, and is very easy to learn and use. I haven't gotten to mess around with iMovie 09 yet, but you already said you don't have a Mac.
(We just finished a movie in my Film as Lit class, so I'll see if I can get it onto youtube so you can see the quality.)

I use Premiere Elements 4, it's pretty good. Not professional-level, but pretty good. I'd recommend 4 or even 3 over 7.
Re: Best video editing software?
Final Cut is good, STAY AWAY FROM AVID!!!... i just hate it, too buggy for my tastes

An old version of Adobe Premiere would be good and can be bought for pretty cheap. Premiere Pro is good, but I don't know if it does HD or not. I know CS3 does, but it's a little more expensive. Even Adobe Premiere 6 is pretty good. (Pro is the one after 6, I think. That's what I used for a while.)
If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.
