six switch portable....

Before you all yell at me, I did use the search. Im sorry for the question, but can anyone point me in the direction of a guide for making an Atari 2600 six switch portable? I have one lying around collecting dust, and about 80 million games for it. Actually, most all of them have boxes and manuals, one is even unopened. So I would like to hack it up and have some fun with it, any help here?

well, this has been mentioned quite a bit before, surprised the search didn't find anything. Anyway, a 6-switch cannot be cut up nearly as well, while a 4-switcher can be made into a 4x4" square. sell the one you have for a 4-switcher, you can do so much more

That all depends on where it was manufactured: Sunnyvale, CA or Taiwan.

IF it was made in California, restore it, don't hack it. (Those are worth quite a bit to serious collectors, check the Atariage Forums.)

If it was made in Taiwan, go for it, but it will be bigger than 4" square.

I recently did a complete overhaul of my Taiwan 6-switch, and the main board is not too big, about the size of the GBO.

If you decide to sell it and buy a 4-switch, be specific as to where it was built (you will draw collectors if it's a CA model.)[/i]

so Im curious, If I were to sell it on ebay, any guesstimates at a price it would go for? what would be a good starting bid? I cant seem to get into any of the forums on atari age.......

Yay! So its not only me.

I lurk around AA a lot...

I tought my computer was messed up when I couldnt get in.

I think the reason you cant get in is the fact they have a new mb software, and if im not mistaken, the backup for AA is a few gigs... So it might take a bit until everything is back to normal.

10-100 for a going price? Its got an rf adapter, and original power plug, a BUNCH of games, hell, ive got 4 pac-mans. most of the games have boxes and manuals. oh, 3 controllers.

$10 seems low for a Sunnyville, I paid like $20-30 for mine (it came with like 2 pong controlls, 4 regular controllers, Atari 4 switch, and about 15 games). So if you were to put like that into an auction, you can expact something like $40 at the very least.
