Why does...?

Post by Oniak »

Why do my eb games here(Newfoundland) suck? They have nothing older than N64, and even the n64 games are very limited. I've seen some gamestop/ebgames that have tons of older games and systems?
Though I do have some thrift stores and pawn shops aswell as as flea markets(especially an indoor one at my mall thats pretty sweet)but those are fairly inconsistent.
Anyways /end rant.

Consider yourself lucky... Most of the ones here PS2-gen and newer from what I've seen.

The oldest console stuff we've got is PS2/Xbox/Gamecube  There is a case with old GB and GBA games, but there are only about 50 total games.

I don't even have an EBgames where I live. Thrift stores in my area suck. But there's a great pawn shop, has some, not a lot of videogames, but the selection changes a lot. The owner is a nice guy and gives me good deals.

If I go to Victoria or Vancouver there are used game stores with a lot of selection and high prices. I saw an AES once.

The pictures you posted are most likely of a play n' trade. I have never seen a gamestop that caries games older then the last gen.

Yeah, Gamestop/EB is a joke for old used stuff. Gamecube is considered ancient history there.

the posted liberation pictures are from early 2000's. Visual clues (other than the retro games lol) can help you ballpark the year

I discovered that the place that fulfilled all of my old gaming needs closed all of its brick-and-mortar locations. ... except that it opened one (and only one), just a couple miles away from my house :). Apparently you can even order stuff online and pick it up in-store and pay in cash. awesome.

Yeah, seems that original XBox stuff is getting cleared out too, and that's newer than PS2, as well as all GBA stuff.

they're definitely trying to kill gamecube. they just have a movable shelf of games that I haven't seen refreshed in a long time.

it must be the owners of the individual store. i have one playntrade that sells anything people bring in, they even have some atari 2600's! and then there is a playntrade on the other side of town, that has nothing older than ps2.
and gamestop sucks, except for the used hardware bin :)

buy back games is good, they have refurb n64's cheap, and tons of new (brand new, in the original box) yobo controllers!

eb used to be good, but now they are owned by gamestop, hence, they suck.

I remember EBgames used to have some really old stuff, I bought Pokemon Yellow there. They were selling N64s for $30 with a nice box and good(?) condition. Back then there were still a few new N64 games around. This was the middle of the PS2/XBOX/GC era. Ah, those were the days, too bad I was too young to notice.
