PSone Screen Ribbon Cable Wont Attach

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PSone Screen Ribbon Cable Wont Attach

Post by Erlex »

So I took my PSone screen apart to do the led mod(which I finally got working) and I am unable to get the pins on the end of the ribbon cable to seat all the way down so I am unable to get video. I know thats the problem because if I push on it, I get a glimpse of video.

Does anyone have any suggestions of ways to get the cable to seat all the way down? I am about to(out of shear desperation) try and solder the pins to the board, and that will be a crap shoot and most likely not work...

Did you open the lock? All the way? If so check for obstructions.

Raise the brown clip with your fingernail GENTLY, pop in the ribbon, close the brown clip. You will not succeed in soldering the ribbon connections to the plug, forget it!

Well the first one broke last year and I have no idea what happened to it lol, and this one part of the problem I am having is that the pins on the board to which the ribbon cable attaches to bent and broke off :/ and I am assuming you are wanting the screen for the board its (partially) attached to.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I did the mod where one removes the anti-glare layer. It was completely successful, I dint pull up any of the polarizing layer and there are few marks on the screen from it. But could there have been some reason that that may have damaged the screen?

And as for screens, how about this one?

I feel guilty breaking all of these nice psone screens, its only fair to even it out with another brand :P
