Hey, I want to host some music on my site, but for some reason whenever anyone tries to access the mp3 file, it links back to the freehostia.com home page. I figure they did this on purpose.
Can anyone spare some web space? It's four files, 8 MB in total.
Wanted: 8 MB of webspace.

Google Pages gives you 100 MB of space to play with. (It would be a great web host if they gave you more flexibility with the code.) Their new Sites service might do the same thing. You should be able to play around with them as long as you have a Gmail account.

And of course there are always free file hosts (putfile, rapidshare, etc), and you could put it in a video and throw it on YouTube if it's just up for people to listen to, and you made the audio yourself.

Aha! Works wonderfully. I might even more my website over to google pages when I'm done.
I can do that, right? All the links in the website are to kurt.ws/whatever folder/whatever file, so if i download the site and put it on another host, everything will work just fine. Right?

Just associate the domain name with yournamehere.googlesites.com, and it should redirect subdirectories properly.
You should be able to do that if you bought the domain name separate from your hosting. (If it's one package they may not let you do this.)
