To ps3 or not to ps3?

Post by Oniak »

Well I've currently got a 360 pro with a 20gb HD and close to 30 games(+ a few downloads on xbox live)And I don't play it much at all,And Im aware its starting to get old(Ps3 has MUCH better hardware). So I'm wondering, What do you guys think on getting a ps3? DO you think I could get enough money from selling the 360 to get one?

1) Get a concept of value. The NES is still old, and it's still wicked fun. Buy a new game.
2) The PS3 can play blue ray discs, dvds, and cds. However, gamewise, it doesn't any games you're missing out on.
3) Get a concept of money.
4) Stop doing what society tells you to do. The 360 isn't old.

Unless you are really interested in Blu-ray or have a burning desire to play MGS4, Killzone 2, and Little Big Planet I don't really see much of a reason to unload the 360. Sure the hardware has been around for a few years, but I still have yet to play anything on the PS3 that would make me think it is the superior system.

I guess this all depends on what your interests are. I own both systems so I would like to think I have a fairly unbiased view on them. So far I beat Uncharted the first week I had it and have played nothing but Blu-rays and DVDs on it since.

As far as whether or not you could scrounge up enough money for a PS3 by selling your stuff? I would say you probably could. In doing so you would be getting rid of a system with a highly superior online service and the 30 games you own. If you don't play them anymore then that is probably irrelavant.

I say scout eBay for the stuff you have to get a ballpark figure for what you could sell it all for and then go from there. Good luck!

I may be biased as I'm a PS3 owner, but I say that the PS3 is a very worthwhile investment as a game system. I own 16 games for my PS3, both on discs and downloads from the PlayStation Store, and I haven't been disappointed by a single one yet. However, bear in mind that my decision to get a PS3 was based solely on my own personal preferences, both in regards to games and features, so your mileage may vary.

Now, a few of the reasons I decided to go for the PS3 over the 360:

1.) It had far more games that interested me than the 360 did, and while "Halo" and "Project Gotham Racing" are awesome, those two series alone weren't enough to sway me. The PS3's library in general was just more fitting to my tastes.

2.) Free online gaming. $50 a year for Xbox Live is pretty cheap on a month-to-month basis, but that extra $50 I'd be spending, I think, would be better put towards another game. The PlayStation Network really surprised me with how well everything works and how easy it is to use, and for the price, it's unbeatable.

3.) For my money (or at least the work I had to do to earn my PS3), the PS3 had more features that I liked than the Xbox 360 did; for example, a large HDD, built-in WiFi, a sweet controller with motion-sensing capability, etc.

Overall, I believe the PS3 is well worth the price, and I'm very, very glad I decided to go with it. No regrets!

Personally I think you'd be better off selling or trading in some of your current games to buy some new ones. I'm not sure why you think the 360 is 'old,' have you seen Gears of War 2? It looks absolutely amazing. In fact, developers have just been getting to the point where they know how to push the hardware's limits and squeeze even more juice out the system, so it's definitely not obsolete.

Maybe you could tell us the games you have and what kinds of games you like and we can offer you some suggestions. I know I have maybe 15 games at most for my 360 and think they're all worth it and couldn't see wanting to trade them all in.

You already have one modern game system, you don't need another. Get an N64 and enjoy some of the classics.

Of course he doesn't need another one. For that matter, nobody really needs any game system at all.

Either way, do plenty of research on the PS3 to make sure that it's a system you think you'll use and enjoy before you sell anything. If you sell all of your 360 stuff and it turns out you don't like the PS3, then you'll be in a pretty bad situation. Also be sure to check out the games available for it; it doesn't matter how good a system is if you don't like any of the games.

Don't get the PS3.

If you really need a new system, get a Wii. Anything before the PS3.

Can you give a reason for your opinion, Harshboy? Like, a real, thought-out reason? Otherwise you come off as sounding like a fanboy.

All this anti-PS3 talk is depressing me. I guess people hate what they don't understand...

at least the wii has 2 games worth wasting your life away on, the ps3 has none. A 360 has all of the games that a ps3 has and halo and the new banjo kazooie game, but I haven't heard how that ranked, so you can skip the ps3 because it sucks. It will never achieve nes status because it has crap games, just like the psp.

Sorry, but your whole post reeks of "fanboy."

Seriously, have you ever seen some of the PS3's games? Some awesome ones, just off the top of my head, are "Warhawk," "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune," "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue," "LittleBigPlanet," "Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction," "Resistance: Fall of Man," "WipEout HD..." I could go on. No good games? Please, think before you post.

 I'm not a fanboy, my newest console is a gc and I don't really like microsoft/xbox, if I'm a fanboy of anything it would be nintendo  but I don't like the wii,
I guess my psp counts but it doesn't have that many good games
gran turismo 5 wasn't as good as the other ones, ratchet and clank wasn't either, lbp didn't really live up to the hype, so on so forth I guess the sports games are more fun on ps3, but not worth buying a ps3

The reason I swayed to the PS3 is primarily the controller. I have been using PS controllers all my life and I don't want to adjust to another one.

Also, free online, bigger HD, Wifi, Blu-Ray, quiet (unlike my friend's "harrier jump jet"), no widespread overheat problem and Spyro the Dragon.

I'd have a PS3 any day over the Wii or 360. I have a Wii, too. The games are being released so slowly for the Wii, and the PS3 is superior to both the Wii (repackaged Gamecube) and 360. If you want Halo that bad, just get it for PC. It can't be too long before it gets released now.
