Well, with April Fools day less than a month away, I got this great idea. In a nutshell, I'll be hacking the school's wireless speaker system in lecture halls.
This is the model they use (go gullible professors!)

The problem is, it costs like $200. I'm sure it's not to hard to build, is it? I don't think it has any encoding or anything, you can hear GSM signals over it (Likely when someone sends a text message from an iPhone).
So, is it possible? Am I missing something, or is it a matter of a simple circuit?

It will have to be tuned to the same frequency, and it most likely won't be powerful enough to overcome the original signal..

"likely"? I guess if you dont know anything about amp design but you just have to design a more powerful amp...
Are you going for jamming it or overpowering it with a pirate station?
The obvious hack is to just use an existing wm-5320 transmitter hooked up to a crude RF amp you built. Its not an easy task, look for an existing wide-ish band amp that hits your frequency (0.1 - 2ghz lets say - we need 0.7 - 0.9) or take a few 3/4th year ECE courses.
