Which screen cutting guide is best?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Which screen cutting guide is best?

Post by thewise1 »

Alright, when you have a led and brightness modded ps1 screen, what part of the screen mobo can you cut off?

It feels like if I just took a dremel and cut off gates and fuses that the screen wouldn't work.

If you need to know I'm still going to have the headphone jack connected to the screen so the sound on the screen turns off when I plug headphones in.

It would help too if you could also tell me what some of the parts do and why they are not needed anymore.

I don't need you to make a whole guide for me. I'm just asking which guide is best for my situation of an led modded AND brightness modded screen.

cut off all of the parts on the edges that have nothing on them, then cut off the top thingy.

I've seen people get the boards a lot smaller and usually around the size of the screen itself besides the capacitor on the side.

well then use your multimeter and after you cut off a piece, wire it back on.

I don't know how to use a multimeter like that. It doesn't even have continuity testing on it. I had to make a AA battery pack with an led for that.

then 1.buy a new multimeter with that setting
2. just cut off the minimum amount
3. give up your portable and quit whining.

Did I sound like I was whining, I was just saying I didn't know how to use a multimeter like that. Give me a break I'm still learning. Oh and that's real supportive, you tell me to give up as soon as I run into a problem.

The what multimeter would you recommend because I just bought this one.

It was more aimed at a joke, but was still supposed to remind you that you can look things up by yourself. Just looked up multimeter on ebay. It's not that hard to find a multimeter with beep setting. And I really don't think your making a portable as small as sifuf's, you probably don't need to cut your lcd.linky linky

When I went to home depot, I was trying to get one locally but that was the best one they had. And of course I know I can't get it as small as sifufs. But I could get it smaller in general.

I would like to at least, the more room the better. I guess I'll just trim off the excess for now then.
