Need advice on building a NES PC

Anyone know of any good gaming motherboards that are cheap and that fit into a Nintendo Entertainment System (which is approx. 10" (W) by 8" (L) by 3.5" (H) ?

Nope.

Biggest motherboards you'll be able to fit in there are smaller than Micro ATX. If there's a shuttle PC motherboard as powerful as you want, it will be expensive. Even then, there's no way you'll fit a decent GPU in it.

The best you can hope for for that miniscule size is Nvidia's ION platform (Atopm + 9400m chipset), but it's not a gaming monster and it isn't shipping yet.

Nvidia's ION isn't x86 or x64-x86 compatible. I used an atom motherboard. You can get an intel board with a 330. There's also an ECS DTX board that has a PCIe x1 slot. You can mod an x1 slot to work with x16 cards. Here's a link to the worklog for my NES PC. Feel free to ask me any questions that you might have.

You know, lots of people post for that exact same reason. You might wanna be more clear in the subject, since advice can be for just about anything. It's like saying "I have a question" or something. Not to mention, it's likely to attract the kind of people that might be able to answer your question

Two choices. Wait for ION, which IS X86! The Atom is an x86 processor! Anyway ION has a 9400 in it. Not a gaming monster, but acceptable. It will probably ship with a PCI-e slot in some implementations.

Or, right now, you could buy this. It's pricey and needs a processor and videocard, but it would be powerful.

You can try to fit in a decent one but all of your bigger stuff will be outside of the case. You can try to put in a low profile GPU.

Yes, you could do that, but you run the risk of it being the way of the DVD drive. If he has one in there. But it could be a laptop CD drive and that'd make it possible.
