WVI- Wireless Video Interface: Using RF transmitters to pick up AV signals from a system somewhere within range.

It has been done, Techknott made a great 360 WVI.

What I want to know is if it would be possible to have the disk drive inside the WVI, relaying back to the system for processing, and then spit back to the handheld to be displayed.

Would it be fast enough? (No lag)
Would you need a ton of transmitters? (many DD connections)
Is this a good idea?
Etc?

What do you think?

I really fail to see any point in this. Besides the fact that you would have a pretty hefty dish drive in there compromising the size, I see no point in going through all the trouble of linking them if you still have to be in range of the original system (I'm guessing 30 - 60 yards +\-) In which you change the disk in anyway. Basically large size, expensive (if even existing) technology for the DD, and limited rage just don't add up in my mind. Anyone see my point?

I see what you're saying.

But, for example, you had a DD equipped WVI, you could theoretically put a console away for good, and have a full-time house-tethered handheld.

My real foreseeable goal for this would be a briefcase/backpack console+golf cart battery setup, so you could bring your business on road trips, school, camping etc. I think it would be neat to never have to touch the actual console.

what does it take for an X360 to verify there is a disk in it? I mean for when you have a game downloaded to the HDD. perhaps a way to circumvent the disk drive?

I don't know how it does it, but it works.
If you do that, you could keep the HD with the base console and not worry about the DD.

Good idea.

Only, I'm more of a PS3 kinda guy. Thus, wireless DD possibilities?
