Re: starting my ps2p......
1. Most portable DVD players will not work for screens.Masterchief963 wrote:ok i got all the parts i need to start my ps2p i think....

2. If you "don't know how to hook the stuff up," you should start with an easier project.
3. Do you know how to solder?
4. A PS2 is one of the more complex systems to portablize.
5. An original ps2 would be a huge portable.

Re: starting my ps2p......
yes i know how to solder
and the reason why i want to make a big ps2 into a portable is because i love my ps2, and i want to portableize it and i dont have any other game systems XDDDDDDD

and yes i understand that this will be the project from h***
oh and is the reason for the dvd player will not to work is because it dosent have an LCD screen????

Re: starting my ps2p......
Good - that's the first step.Masterchief963 wrote:yes i know how to solder
You realize that you might kill it if you screw it up?Masterchief963 wrote:i love my ps2
Why do you want to portablize it? Just to say that you did it? For fun? For profit? This is very relevant.Masterchief963 wrote:i want to portableize it
It's not sad, but it will be if you break it and have none at all.Masterchief963 wrote:i dont have any other game systems... sad i know
By "difficult," I mean that it is possible to ruin the system AND that it will take a lot of careful work to pull off.Masterchief963 wrote:and yes i understand that this will be the project from h***
Many DVD players do not have component-in ports. If it doesn't, it most likely will not work for a screen.Masterchief963 wrote:oh and is the reason for the dvd player will not to work is because it dosent have an LCD screen????
Further, what is your budget for this project? The cost for parts (other than the system) can easily breach $100 for a portable.

Re: starting my ps2p......
i dont want to do this for profit i want to do it because i want to know i did it, i know that if i screw up ill fry the board, my budget is infanite, i know that these are expensive and you probably realize that im a noob at this and i am lol and i know that this will be more than an overnight project and about the screen i realize that everyone uses the ps one portable screen because of your very reason but what other screen could i use this is gunna be made fun of soooo bad i know it!!!
Re: starting my ps2p......
if the screen has composite input then it should be usable. I would check with forum members before deciding on one anyways, though, just in case they know something about it that you don't (like I bought an intec screen before hearing they suck)Masterchief963 wrote:i dont want to do this for profit i want to do it because i want to know i did it, i know that if i screw up ill fry the board, my budget is infanite, i know that these are expensive and you probably realize that im a noob at this and i am lol and i know that this will be more than an overnight project and about the screen i realize that everyone uses the ps one portable screen because of your very reason but what other screen could i use this is gunna be made fun of soooo bad i know it!!!

Re: starting my ps2p......
Look on your tv at home, see the 3 little plugs that you plug your Ps2 into? The yellow, red, and white? Does your DVD player have those?

Well than there ya go. I would test to see if it's working first before you tear it apart. Just plug your ps2 into the dvd player and play on it. If it works then you should be able to use that screen.

Re: starting my ps2p......
It might not be broken or "a piece of junk." Are you sure it's video-in and not video-out? Just because it has the yellow, red, and white contacts does not mean it will work. The portable DVD player I have has video out only and would not work for any project.Masterchief963 wrote:wow i feel completely retarded now XD thanks for tellin me that now i can punch the guy in the face that gave this piece of junk since it dont work!!!! what do you prefer for a screen i know a lot of people use that PS one screen beter go get an ebay account!
And use a period (.) once in a while. Your posts are hard to read when the run on as they do.

Re: starting my ps2p......
whoa thanks for this info. but I'm damn too late... I'll try connecting my DVD LCD (it's a Vieta) to my PS2 Fat with what you said and see of it works out. is there any way to do it without me dying of electricity?
If it doesn't, I'll try rcomopile my PS2 with the Optical thingy... and some other stuff that took off to make it portable. damn, my parents said to organize my stuff at my "office" and by doing that, I lost some screws. This is going to be some adventure
-I just need to know if I need the whole power generator of the PS2 or will my Battery from the Vieta do it?
-does my solder need to be micro-stuff or a normal one will do it?
Thanks
