A tiny projector. With a screen like that, you could probably get away with using a few Cree/Luxeon high brightness LEDs for a lamp.

I don't suppose this thing accept VGA in? Only composite? Maybe RGB?

If you look up the datasheet for the video IC (a Sharp IR3Y29B) you can kook up RGB. If my horrific memory serves, you need to life pin 39 to switch to RGB mode, then the inputs are on 31,32, and 34.

There is a thread around here somewhere, but the search is still broken.

And a VGA to RGB converter is a pretty simple project.

I am leaving right now, not able to do a big writeup, but for now, try looking up info for full size LCD DIY projectors. There is quite a bit of info, and most of the needed steps.

Well, double post, shoot me.

You could almost certainly get it down to the size of your average camcorder. I am working with a 3" lcd, and it looks to fit. The hard part is figuring out the focus for your Fresnel lense, you will need to look up those DIY projector tutorials for info on that.

You will need lenses, some older binoculars have ones that will work. You are probably just better off with buying proper lenses, though, saves you a lot of time. For the Fresnel lense, I believe you can salvage them from old rear-projection TVs.

Cost depends on your size/quality, but think in the $5-40 range, depending on what you can scrounge up.
