nevermind1534's NESp

Post by nevermind1534 »

I gutted an NES last year to make an NES PC (still working on that http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/foru ... hp?t=14999). I have the board here still (minus the RF box, which I can still have the board from)

plus, I have plenty of room for error if I mess up.

So I figured why not make a portable? I plan on doing the stereo mod and maybe putting a stereo/mono switch on the casing. I like the vacuum casing idea, but I'll have to see how that works out.

I was worried that I maybe ripped something necessary off of the board, but I checked it and no hard was done. I'd like to start desoldering some unnecessary stuff from the board next week.

I agree, your pictures are huge.

Anyways, though, if you've got that many NESs, making an NESp would be a great project to undertake.

Yes, I disabled it already. That's what I do with all of the ones that I sell on ebay. I just don't say that I do.

Ok, I got the capacitors relocated with some wire out of a dead DVD/VCR combo (it was perfect); I'll post pics of that later. It has been about a year since I took the RF box off, and I don't know where the 7805 went. Would this be a good replacement?

Would anybody mind giving me their opinion on the regulator?

For a 7805 regulator, 8 bucks seems a bit too high. Just get one for cheap from radioshack or TI.
