Phoenix Wright: The Musical (Seriously)

Post by palmertech »

This would seem to be the epitome of Japanese weirdness.

The Takarazuka Revue, a female only Japanese theater, is putting on a musical based on Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. The show appears to have started on the 5th, it is ending March 2nd. Luckily, they record their shows, and release a high quality DVD recording after the last show. I am looking forward to it. :D

Here are some pics of the latest rehearsals: Image

Here is a clip from a rehearsal, watch for hilarious dancing to the epic Phoenix Wright soundtrack.

The story appears to revolve around Phoenix trying to defend his ex-lover from school, even though she insists she is guilty, while Edgeworth, also a former schoolmate of both of them, tries to prove her guilty.

I am looking forward to finding out more regarding the relation Edgeworth and Phoenix had in their childhood, the games do mention it, but do not elaborate.

So, any thoughts on a courtroom musical played by cross-dressers?

Yeah, that's what I've heard, too. I need to pick up a copy sometime.

Anyways, one of my friends would love this. I'll have to let him know about it.

The first one takes as long as the third case to really get into, but after that, it is nothing but awesome.
The second one was okay, I suppose... I hate it that is completely re-did the soundtrack. The first one is by far the best, IMO.
The third is good.
The fourth one does not even have you playing as Phoenix Wright, and they turned him into a homeless person.

NOTE: before arguing with me about the fourth one, keep in mind I am still playing it. No spoilers, and I suppose it COULD get better, but I am not liking it so far. :(

Seriously, the Phoenix Wright games are made of win (Especially if you like reading books, it will fit right in).

I played the demo for the fouth one (that's "Apollo Justice," right?) when it was available on the Nintendo Channel... quite fun.

If I happen to find the first one secondhand, I'll be sure to pick it up. I need more DS games that don't rely exclusively on the touch screen.

The entire series is amazing. Everyone who is anyone(not like that means anything here, :p) should play it. Don't worry palmer, the last case of Apollo justice is incredibly awesome, and stuff.

My favorite is the third game, as Godot is more epic than...epic.

It better be awesome, I am scarred by Phoenix turning out (At this point) to be an alcoholic, evidence forging, bad parenting, lazy dressing bum.

Godot lacks an epic musical theme, which made him less epic in my mind.

I cannot wait for videos of this musical to hit the intertubenetwebz, hopefully with captions in English.
