So, we all know the NES board can't run without the SNES board.
It's a logical conclusion that there is unnecessary, unused circuitry on the SNES board then, right?
Never actually touched one so I can't do anything myself, but someone should trace the components.

Most of it is used for both, like the video IC and controller board. There are NES specific components, but they are not located anywhere you can just trim them off.
