12 Volt Regulator

A 7812 - 12VDC regulator should fill the needs of the 12v power source for the N64 mobo correct? And besides making sure of applying a heat sink to the regulator, should any capacitors or resistors be used in conjuction to power the N64 with this type of regulator?


Bought the regulator at Radio Shack item # 276-1771

Input voltage Range 35v
Output voltage 12v
Output current up to 1.0 amp

Making a N64 portable will be one of my side projects, I have pleny of spare parts to make one, but I got to make sure I grab everything to power it.

I have my eye on that 3.3v regulator from Dimension Engineering to cover the 3v power source needed for the N64 mobo

The 12v input just goes to a 7805 regulator for the A/V DACs. Anything from 7-20V will work.

Don't bother- it doesn't provide enough power. There is a TI part that works good.
