Packing of a N64p

granted this does have to do with cases, but I thought I would post in the section where the most N64's have been completed

I searched the forums, but all i found were pics of the guts of several N64p's

I was wondering what are No, No's in the work of packing as far as having things touch (obviously dont want any shorts) such as heatsinks or other things

also, to pack, you pretty much stack stuff on top of eachother, but in a lot of pics where was some material between and N64 and the screen or some other configuration, but how should I go about stacking the stuff inside the case

and also, how would i nail down eveything cause I dont want things rattleing around - I would just use glue, but that only works for the things that are directly touching the inside of a case

Oh, sorry. I thought you litterally meant you wanted to hammer a nail through the pcb to mount it.

I think you should put it screen, battery, n64 mobo. You want the cart slot to reach the back of the system, so you should put that in the back to avoid wrapping wire all the way around the battery. As for mounting buttons, I posted this earlier on tech questions: here

I hope this helps with the buttons at least, best way is to franken case it. I plan to vacuum form the main case then bondo parts of the controller shell to it.

You take your handy dremel and cut the out a circle around the buttons so you have the piece of the controller that was made for the buttons. A good example of this is hailraisers n64p:



You can see that he cut out the buttons from his n64 mini pad and used bondo to put them together with the laser doodle. Just bondo it flush with the case, sand it down, paint over it, and you're good to go.

The best way would be to make standoffs like you see inside commercial stuff.

You could mount one board to each side of the case. or mount them to each other using existing holes and small metal brackets.
