LED's for the LED mod

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

No, those are 5mm ones and are too big. Get some 3mm ones.

5mm LEDs are fine and have been used many times. you can shave them down if you need to.

also, avoid radioshack at all costs. they are EXPENSIVE.

here: 25 5mm 17,000mcd white leds $1.97 http://www.sureelectronics.net/goods.php?id=273

personally i would use 8, two spaced evenly on each side instead of the corners. sand the tips of the LEDs flat and you should get some fairly even lighting and REALLY bright. i have not tested this theory but it seems like it would be more effective that putting them in the corners.

I see where 8 would help but wouldn't that fact that the mcd is so high that 4/3 would light it up perfect and 8 would be overkill

Make sure you use the proper resistor on each led, and not just one resistor for all the leds.
