Xbox 360 with an Ipod external hard drive

plugged my 120g Ipod into the back of my 360. Ipod gets power i can access it through media for images and music but it doesn't show up as a storage device. whats wrong?

the 360 doesn't recognize anything but the 360 memory unit (memory cards) so yeah thats your problem

then why would the thing have three usb ports?

do i need an external hard drive formatted to fat32?

the only way you can use a harddrive for the 360 is through Sata cable... like i said there is no way for the 360 to identify any usb device as a storage device.... only the memory units. however you can save music and videos and pictures to an external hdd and plug it to the usb and stream off of it however like i said you CAN NOT SAVE MEMORY TO IT!

You can't write to the iPod, but I'm sure you can stream things off of it. Try enabling disc use when you plug it in to a computer from iTunes.

IMO, the last item is the least important of them, and the USB ports would have been justified without that capability.
