Rebirth of a DS Phat (Phoenix)

Post by Gregory DG »

Hey guys. Wondering if you can give me some advice/help. Got a DS Phat that I want to put in a new case. I'm 90% done with swapping it out, but I've run into a problem that might be a deal breaker (at least one of meager skills such as myself.)

I hooked everything back up, but the top screen's contrast was way too bright. I could barely make out anything. To make matters worse, when I was trying to fix that, I broke the tiny (frickin' microscopic) clip that holds the smallest of three ribbon cables into place. So now it won't even turn on.

This was supposed to be a gift to my 5 year old son and he was very excited about getting my old DS, but it looks like it won't be happening unless I can get some help. Any advice?

Thanks,
Aguiluz

very simple...this is how i got me a $5 ds from a kid at school whose attempted mod was uber fail.

just fold up a small piece of paper (at least 2x) to be the width of the ribbon. now wedge it in under the ribbon. Presto!

why it works:
the “clip” on the ribbon slot pushes the ribbon up onto the contacts. now, the paper does that. :D
Cheers,
