Can I remove the DVD player from this thing?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Can I remove the DVD player from this thing?

Post by FordForever »

I have had this 10 inch portable DVD player for a while now and the screen on this thing is pretty decent. I would like to remove the DVD player portion of it but the RCA inputs are located on that part of it. I want to make it smaller so I can use it in my truck possibly.

It was given to me as a gift a few years ago. I am also wondering if I could give this thing VGA input or converted VGA to ???? input. I am a computer programmer trying to make an in car PC...Thanks for the help in advance!

This is a strange little screen, it opens in the middle like a book.

Here are some photos. Camera phone is bad.

Thank you again for any help.

I do have a few of those PSOne screens if you think that would be a better choice for this.

What you would have to do is open the case and see if the RCA electronics are attached to the rest of the mobo.
Of they are, see if you can separate them.

If they aren't see if you can fit it in the top case where the screen is.

Drill holes for the plugs, put the top case back together, and call it good.

try looking at the insides then mod it if, posible for what your specific needs are. I would love to have a screen that could do anything, your lucky to have a 10 inch screen!
i hate how electronic part suppliers give you an option on their website to filter your searches so that you can find a certain part and no results come up!

It should work fine. I doubt it converts the composite into digital signal before sending it to the screen.
