Compressing Songs For Ipod?

Post by ghosstt »

Well, I have 2047 songs right now in my iTunes. It adds up to 10.75 gigs of music. My nano can only hold 8 gigs. (old new widescreen one) Is there a way to compress them? (via windows, itunes, etc) Is it worth it? Will it give me that much space without quality loss?

What kind of headphones do you have?
If they're good, you'll notice.

Some people hate it, some people don't care.

Most of the people that don't care either listen to rap on blown out earbuds, or bad rave and J-pop on Skullcandy's. :x

Please care. :?

I'm using the stock apple headphones. (the newer ones) I plan on upgrading to some no names pretty soon. (the rubber rings ripped off). And I don't listen to any rap at all. nor rave or j-pop. The bitrates I'm not to sure about. Will check tomorrow though.

I keep everything at 128 - 192 k/sec MP3s. (Anything under 128k/sec and you start to really notice compression artifacts.) Compress songs you're not as crazy about to 128. They're both a good compromise between file size and audio quality.

Re-encode songs you bought off iTunes; they're pretty high bitrate.
