Opening a Gigabyte M912X - Nevermind, it's quite dead.

Post by betasword »

Alright, so I recently received a Gigabyte M912X in the mail. Ah, the joys of Christmas. Anyways, long story short, it has problems working. Specifically, it turns off when the screen is moved in certain ways. Being a convertable tablet netbook, that causes problems.

Basically, I need to know how to open it up, specifically, the hinge area. I've already taken out the screws that hold everything together, I just haven't been able to figure out how to actually get in there to check things out. I guess it doesn't help that I also can't figure out how to get the keyboard out, and I'm going to assume that that'll probably be required at some point in time.

I want to be able to get in there, so I can check the wiring, and make sure everything's in working order, or, if something, for whatever reason, needs to be replaced, so I can do that, as well.

I've already exhausted official channels for getting this fixed, including Gigabyte USA, and that's why I've resorted to trying to fix it myself.

If anyone knows how to open this thing and can share, it'll be much appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: Nevermind. I figured out how to get it open. Turns out it was the screen cable. Well, one of the wires in there, at least. No clue which one, what type of wire it is, where I'd get a replacement, or how I'd even replace it. That sucks. Well, this thread can fade on into obscurity, now.
