Xbox 360 Leds gone terrible wrong

I was working on switching out the leds on my controller. I had finally sealed everything up and when I went to turn it on they didn't light up. I left to get some food when my mom complained of smelling something. I went up stairs to find that 1/4 of my controller was melted. My question is "What the HELL happened?"

How did that happen?

My guess is that you shorted something, so a wire heated up and became red hot, thus melting the controller. I don't know, though.

And can we get a picture of the carnage?

Yeah, something was probably shorting -and then kept shorting when the batteries were in.

That sounds bad. Who knew two AA's could cause so much destruction.

Were you using a li-ion pack? If so, I would isolate it to the battery.

The 360 controller has an easy to jump fuse, see if it is okay.

I was using the charging back I don't think I turned off the controller but that should not have made it melt how could the short from those tiny leds cause so much destruction? My dad left the camera at work so I will put up pic on Monday hopefully.
