Easy Power source?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Easy Power source?

Post by revoltkid »

hi
i am new here so i will might as well introduce my self now....but i do have a question
hi
i am 16 years old, and i am currently a junior in high school
for me to graduate next year i will need to do a senior project
i have chosen to make a portable nintendo 64
but i need an easy power source
i already have a good lcd screen of my choice
it is a DVD player with AV input
well....i saw this video here ====> http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech ... 4-portable
well....i now need to choose a good power source
as showed in the video above....they used DVD batteries
but i really don't want to take my new portable DVD player apart...but i am willing to if i get proper feedback and am confident with it
well....
i was also thinking of using rechargeable AA batteries...but i doubt that will do good......
if i do use a separate power source then will i need that TI regulator they used in the above link?
if i do use a separate power source then it will be a pain in the butt cuz then i'll have to "double charge" the power....u know....i'll have to monitor not one set of batteries life...but two sets
well.....
is there away i can also rig the n64 to the DVD player's battery...but also allowing the DVD player to get input so i can use the AV input
if i can't do that is there a way i can make a separate power source (any suggestions) so i will be able to power the n64 and then directly plug the AV into the AV input? and are there any pictures i can see for this to be a little easier on me thx :D
thank you very much for reading all this
i know i typed a little too much
thank you
:D :D :D

There's a great thread in the Trading Post forum that has 8000mAh 7.4V batteries for $30.00 shipped. You just need a charging circuit and charger.

It's in the thread I just linked you to.

You need to be able to wipe your own ass and look, no one will do it for you.

hi...thanks...and btw i am not in middle school...sorry if i am annoying...but i am really worried that i might be able to finish this
i will like to buy those batteries.....they seem to suit it nicely
:)
and i have another question
is there anyway i can get a custom ribbon cable? see.... i was wanting to remove the game port and re place it so it will be more convenient...but i really suck at soldering, and i was wondering it i could get a ribbon cable that will fit the pins so i won't have to solder a wire to each individual pin
thx
:)

The best way to power it would be one battery and the TI regulator. Two different batteries would be annoying and the little bit of effort required to do the regulator would be well worth it in the long run. Also, AA batteries wouldn't be good.

and then did you say that you were going to use the portable DVD player's screen without taking it apart? Like, just plugging it into the input?
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

I posted this in your other thread, I think.
SCSI cables, plugs, etc.
You can use those, with a little finagling.

I don't have any good links, see what you can dig up.
