Wont recoginze VISTA after fresh XP install? Question!

Hey guys. I used to have a dual boot configuration set up on my pc, so that when I turn my PC on it would ask me what OS I would want to boot up into.

Now, I always use XP and never use vista but I had a partition for it just in case.

Last night I got a NASTY virus, and had to reinstall XP. (I left the Vista partition on my PC, due to that I may need to use it sometime).

Now, I got XP freshly installed, all the drivers, updates, everything but now when I turn on my computer, I dont see the option to boot to vista. (Even though when Im on XP, If I go to "My computer" I can see a drive partition D called VISTA and access its files.).

How do I fix this?

Also, do you guys think that the virus could have infected the vista files? I dont think it could due to the OS's being on two different partitions. Sure, I can access SOME files from VISTA through windows XP by going into my computer and exploring partition D (Partition D = Vista), but I cant access vista system files that way, I think.

Sounds like your MBR is screwed up. Put in the Vista DVD and fix it.

And yes, technically the virus could have jumped to the Vista partition and copulate it up big time but try fixing the MBR first.

there's a program called VistaBootPro that is used to create a dual boot setup for XP/Vista. that's what I used before I installed grub/Linux

I had a bootloader that I set up in XP.

I NEVER used vista after I put XP on. I had only planned to use DX10 with it, but it turns out if you install bioshock in XP and try to run it in Vista, you have to install it twice, once for each.

So I removed vista.
