NES Max Controller Mod

Post by Dimentio »

OK, today I got an NES MAX controller for my NES. However, I hate the joystick thing, and I'm wondering if there's a way I can mod it with a D-Pad or a modern day joystick. Any thoughts?

its been a long time since i saw the inside of a max controller but i think the traces are to far apart to put a d-pad in there the simple way
if not, please excuse me
but you can frankenstein it (cut/glue/putty/sand/paint) with a regular D-Pad
as for the modern day joystick mod. all you need to do is fallow the traces from one controller on to the other controller

I think the outer ring actually works as a D-pad, so you can just use that and maybe immobilize the joy...thing.

The "joystick" on an NES Max controller is just a fancy d-pad, not actually a joystick. All it does is push buttons underneath.

I know, and I now realize that I could just make the red slide thing stay in the middle. Can anyone tell me a way I could do that>

Super glue. Glue a small spot on the edge so that the red piece is glued to the black frame. Careful not to get too much.
